And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
— Anais Nin

Hello and welcome! Based in Waterloo, Ontario, my practice as an abstract painter and textile artist is the culmination of a lifelong creative journey and represents a joyful reinvention – a transition from a corporate career to a full-time studio practice driven by a love of paint and fibre. Though my practice became my primary focus later in life, my artistic sensibility was shaped in childhood. Raised by a mother who filled our home with original art and 1970s textile hangings (so much macrame!), and was always creating something, I was constantly surrounded by the tactile traditions of sewers, quilters, and makers. The abstract forms I create today have been percolating for decades, born from thirty years of boardroom doodles that have finally found physical form.

For me, textile art is a vital connection to a slow, generational craft. My process is deeply intuitive and immersive, often beginning with a simple sketch or painting and a random pile of materials, before evolving without a rigid plan. I build densely layered, sculptural textiles that combine an array of fibre techniques—including sewing, needle felting, crochet, embroidery, and beading. Often driven by the challenge of working with found, rescued, and donated materials, I use limited supplies in non-traditional ways to dictate the palette and boundaries of a piece.

Inspired by the memory of landscapes, nature, and lived experience, my work explores recurring themes of awe, solitude, reinvention, and transition. Through the combination of abstraction and rich, organic textures, I aim to create a space that invites the viewer into a state of quiet contemplation, comfort, and warmth, allowing them to find whatever emotional resonance they need in the moment.

My work has been exhibited locally in Kitchener–Waterloo Society of Artists group shows, at Toronto’s Leslie Grove Gallery, Blyth’s Fabhaus Gallery, and in juried exhibitions. I currently have work on exhibit at St. Jacobs’ Tiny Ass Art Gallery and Cambridge’s Mood Yellow Gallery, and participate regularly in art fairs and shows. Please visit my Events / Shows page to see where I’ll be next.

I hope my work resonates and brings you joy.
